There should be no unlicensed Private Hire Cabs on the road - we have 3 Hackney Ranks in Town but I cannot afford to use them.

I telephone one of the many (fully regulated) private Hire firms in the town and get home for half the cost.

The LDTA need to join the world of technology, it won't go away.

AYG......it's a dog eat dog world, if a punter wants to take that risk to save a few quid then that's up to them

Blokes I know who smoke all buy cheap tobacco pouches rather than pay twice as much in the shops
So do I Joe and often they get a pack that is almost unsmokable.

I would never get in a Cab that isn't plated front/back and on all windows.
Trouble is these app bookings you have to pay as you book, if a jalopy turns up with a one-eyed halfwit what do you do?
Well, it wouldn't happen to me as I don't have a smart phone or use apps, a simple phone does me - but I can see your point and of course the law should then become involved.

If people blindly get into any old car with any old driver, then it is buyer beware.

murray........general builders were pretty much the same - being self-employed is a licence to print money if a lot of your monies received are paid in cash

In our office it was a standing joke that employed people were on PAYE and self-employed were on PWYL

Pay What You Like

As opposed to a licenced cab driven by a one-eyed halfwit? ;-)
Same PAYL in ours too ! We had some big pop stars etc in our catchment same thing...it was all pretty much guesstimate !!! Anybody's guess ! Lol....
In my experience of taxi licensing quite a lot joe, he wouldn't have got past first base.
//well perhaps they'll be a bit less "sorry mate not going that way this time of night"! //

Well said, TTT!
People booking through the app will pay upfront by paypal or direct by credit card. The whole process goes through bank accounts and a trail of money received is recorded of the drivers' work. it will appear on their bank statements and as such, may be visible to HMRC.

Which may be why Taxi Drivers will not sign up to it.
Ha Gromit, now we get tho the nitty gritty of it.
