Is Tony Blair Bonkers ?
So Blair is advocating we get involved in Iraq again ! Is he mad ?
I suggest we parachute him into Baghdad . He can talk them to death . That's the only thing he excels at. With any luck we wouldn't see him again .
Maybe he wants to be their president since no one wants him in Europe.

is well rid of him. He should have been taken out and shot as a war criminal after the 1st Gulf war.
But the difficulty for us now is how to identify those " normal, moderate Muslims that want the same as we do" as YMB puts it. This isn't the Wild West of the 1950's Hollywood...the good guys can't be recognised by their white Stetsons. I would even query whether there are any normal, reasonable Muslims, supposing we could find them in the first place. Islam seems to be where Western Europe was in the middle ages, and it needs to get itself civilised ASAP.
I noticed on the news the other day than countries adjoining Iraq are being overrun by desperate refugees. All except Saudi Arabia. Can anyone tell me why Saudi Arabia isn't taking these Muslim refugees ? After all, the country is the centre of the Muslim world. Millions of people make pilgrimages to Mecca each year, so why isn't this large, important and vastly wealthy state doing more to assist ?

Tony Blair is not bonkers, but he is, like all of us, the subject of human nature.
Tony has a vested interest in not seeing his role in the current crisis, because if he admits he can see it, then that is a short step away from having to admit that he understands it, and he was wrong at the time, and with hindsight.
So Tony does what we all do - given the opportunity. he makes it someone else's fault, because if it is someone else's fault, it is not his fault, so he can carry on without the irksome responsibility for a potenial threat to western civilsation, some of the reasons for which can be traced back directly to decisions he made, before he teflon'd away to the lecture circuit.

It's because they're a bunch of despotic loons who don't give a toss about the refugees or what anyone else thinks about them because they're sitting on most of the world's oil reserves.
The refugees probably aren't the right flavour of muslim for them anyway, not that it'd matter.

@ichkeria thanks for clarification, I was going by bits of conversation from clients at my work who come from the area, the way they were saying it seemed Mosul was part of Kurdistan and had been taken over, after reading your comments and googling, it seems they must have gone in to prevent the ISIS from entering the Kurdistan region
Gromit
/// There were 179 British deaths in the Iraq campaign. ///
Do you wish to see even more added to that total?
/// Are we going to sit and watch al Qaeda take the country? ///
Well are you Gromit, perhaps you would care to go out there as a mercenary, or do you wish those squadies you are always belittling to do your dirty work for you?
/// Did those 179 die in vain? ///
The plain answer to that is yes.
