No doubt there'll be an ECHR ruling somewhere in the near future that we must allow him back here......

No reason why he shouldn't stay where he is then?
/// When asked if Abu Qatada could return to Britain, Mr Clegg said: 'We don't want this man back" and added that the government would do "everything it could do to prevent that happening". ///

A typical politicians reply meaning the 'Doors' could still be open.
He won't be allowed back.
i wouldn't bet on it!
Is he a British passport holder? If he is, how could he be stopped from coming back?
If his children are here then I expect he has the right to return - especially as we now know he isn't a terrorist.
No, he does not hold a UK passport.

However most of the illegals arriving in the UK hold no passport at all (having flushed them down the bog of the aircraft or otherwise disposed of them). Having no UK passport is no bar to being allowed to remain in the UK should you happen to arrive here by one means or another.

The danger is that he still has a large number of family members here (maintained at taxpayers' expense, natch) and should he happen to surreptitiously gain a foothold, Article 8 will rear its ugly head again, despite what any politicians assure.

Having said that, he still has one charge outstanding.
Ah...the Jury has spoken, just like it did for Rebekah Brooks !
Nice try Mikey but no Jury involved. A panel of civilian judges sitting at the State Security Court in Amman cleared him of conspiracy to carry out terrorist acts.
don't tell me she's still allowed into the country too, mikey? There ain't no justice.

There is still one verdict to come, I believe.
Ah...a panel of educated, qualified men found him not guilty, rather that a random collection of people taken off the street, who may or may not be educated or qualified in anything...yeah, thats much better !
The Arabs I have spoken to ( in Arabic of course ) couldnt believe it.

If he has a British Passport which allows him entry to this country ( some dont, Denning 1962 ) then I dont see that we can stop him. (coming in)

and I thought he had been naturalised I have to say.

we can deprive him of Br Nationality on good grounds so long as he has another nationality. But we cant if it makes him stateless.

I was also told that if he DOES come back, some of his own lot will be after him. Really I said, as I ran to the door - I thought he was universally loved by Asians, and didnt wait for the expected hail of abuse....
I never said whether I thought it better or worse. It was a cheap shot to try and substantiate your opinions on another thread and I took some small pleasure in proving your assert action incorrect. :-)
Assertions!
Calm down zacs ! I don't want him back here anymore that any body else does, and I am on record as saying that I was glad when he was eventually stuffed aboard that flight, kicking and screaming to Jordan. He is a nasty, dangerous rabble rouser and deserves to be sent to Saudi Arabia, where his behaviour will be less well tolerated than here.

But both he and Brooks have been subject to the same legal process, albeit in different countries and under different rules. Everybody wanted him to stand trial in Jordan and now he has done just that. Respect for the law is called for surely ?
'same legal process, '

Mmm. I somehow doubt that the outcome wasn't 'engineered' in some way and don't believe the process can be equated to our own legal 'system' however flakey that can appear at times.

BTW I'm perfectly calm.
I am glad to hear it Zacs !
