The expression 'tip of the iceberg' springs to mind here.

The reason for more emerging is that the victims now understand that FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME they will be listened to and action taken.
Yet even now the "enough is enough" and "only doing it for the money" voices are being heard in a deperate effort to wind the clock back, and there is a danger that puns such as the headline here would tend to suggest that you support them - your denial is timely.

I'm sorry, Canary42, but you've completely lost me. It's amazing how you're able to see something that isn't there. I can assure you the term "nonce" in no way supports the people you describe in your post, quite the opposite, in fact. My only error was putting the wrong link in my post, I thought it was the one relating to the lost files by the Home Office.
I am well aware of the meaning of nonce.
I saw what was there - a reference to a plethora of sex offences being referred to as "all this nonsense" albeit expressed in a punning way. The fact that it was a reference to lost files changes the situation, but of course I couldn't know that since I CAN'T see something which isn't there.

And yet you draw conclusions about me to the extent of unfairly accusing me of supporting people who make up stories that they were sexually abused. Trust me, I don't support these people in any way whatsoever.
You're aware of what a nonce is? Then you'd also be aware of what happens to a nonce when he is sent to prison and the other inmates get their hands on him... and rightly so. I don't condone violence but in this instance he deserves everything he gets (before you start accusing me of showing any sympathy for a child molester).
I reiterate what I said before, it's sickening the amount of paedophiles that are only now coming to light. Even more frightening that these people are famous celebrities and high profile figures.
It would be nice if people would add something of relevance to this discussion instead of dissecting and nitpicking at the choice of words for my thread title.
