The headlines being banded about by the Western media such as

"Russians did it! Putin's rebels BLEW UP MH17 plane"

"Is this the moment Russians prepared to fire a missile at flight MH17?"

"Time to confess, Putin"

"Pro-Russian looters"

"Armed Russian rebels"

"'This baby's death is on your conscience, Putin"

"Russian gangsters killed our loved ones"

"Britain and America implicate Russia in Flight MH17 missile attack"

If it was indeed the UKRAINE rebels who committed this crime, (and nothing has so far been proven) how can Putin or his Russian people be held responsible for the actions of a few madmen?

If it is proven that it was the Ukrainians themselves who are responsible, will we ever be told, and if we are, this would be a huge egg in the faces of the Western politicians and our media.

And this is in no way an anti British rant, or even pro-Russian, it is simply a relevant question.

//And do you really think that any rebels will take notice of anyone but themselves? // AOG

because the arms and money comes from them ( Russia )
Also it seems odd to me, and perhaps even others who read the Daily Mail that within minutes, Someone on the ground ( General Bes ) rang up someone in Moscow and said we have downed a plane - if he werent under Moscow control. Gen Bes could have been ringing his mother, I agree. [Hey Mum .... ]

I have to take off my hat to you AOG - following the Beeb line - a leggy good-looker said at one point: A plane to Malaysia has stopped flying and we dont know why....
When she was asked if it had landed anywhere, she replied
No it hasnt landed - it has stopped flying.

At this point, there were reports of a rain of bodies over part of Ukraine

Hey AOG I bet you really blame the CIA ?
Ichie-koo // The major Russian product that Europe loves, and Britain especially, is all that lovely illegally acquired it sends over money for laundering, or saving/investing. It appears to prop up the City to a large extent although I have no knowledge of or interest in such matters //

I am not sure if money laundering is a bit money spinner for the slicketrs in the city. Paribas has just been screwed by the Americans for trading with a company Obama doesnt like - The fine was about a years profits.

I think the current position is that if you launder £1m - you know peanuts really - they take the £1m AND fine you a £1m.

// The rebels hadn't captured a launcher though. Or if they had, it wasn't the one used in the attack. This is why it's such a smoking gun for Putin. //

It seems there were two BUK launchers in the area at the time, one captured from the Ukrainian army and another which had crossed into Ukraine from Russia. There was earlier verification about the captured BUK in a Tweet from a Rebel commander which has since been deleted. The Russian BUK seems to have been rapidly returned to Russia after the airliner incident. But It hasn't been proven which BUK made the mistake. One came with trained Russian operators, and the captured one presumably had untrained operators.

The link you posted clearly refers to two BUK launchers in Rebel hands....

// Khmuryi (Russian: Sanych, the point is that my “BUK will go with yours, it is on a tug. Where should I drive it to put in a column? //
Can we quantify the total number of BUK-like shoot-downs since this insurgency began?
From this thread and elsewhere, I am aware of: -

1 Helicopter*
1 Il-76 transport
1 An-26 transport
1 Civilian B777

Any fighters or other combat planes?

* I've no idea what ordnance was used for the heli and I need to re-read the IL-76 report to see if that was also near takeoff/landing and in reach of a shoulder-fired piece.
Ichkeria commented that the one sneaking back across the border had two rounds missing.
