You are correct that, of the 59 Scottish constituencies represented in House of Commons, 58 of them returned a Labour MP at the last election. Removing them reduces the number of Labour MPs by 58, obviously.
BUT REMOVING SCOTLAND FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM REDUCES THE NUMBER OF SEATS IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS BY 59!!!!!!
Once again, if you look at all of the general elections since the end of the Second World War, the party with the greatest number of seats if Scotland had been independent would have been different just twice, and those two governments set for a combined total of 26 months.
I really think you need to educate yourself.

ok found it in chatterbank, clea not meant for any scrutiny:
"Because I can count! It's just maths.
If you take every general election since the end of the Second World War, the party with the greatest number of seats would have been different in just two of them and, of those two, the parliaments they elected sat for a combined total of just 26 months."
yes that is true an indeed looks relevant until you point out that in most cases the majority was tory anyway. Taking out scotland would make no difference. Yes also in 1997 blair would have won even without scotland, however recent elections have proved a lot closer and thus -58 non Tory seats will make the Tories pretty well nailed on in the forseeable elections.
