// But the question that needs to be addressed is why it was deemed necessary to post an officer at every polling station //
There were unproven allegations at the previous local elections. There is bitter rivalry between the Labour Party and this new Party. It was anticipated the election would be close, and on previous form, losing candidates were alleging fraud. So the police were there to observe everything was fair, and hopefully not have a repeat of previous years where people were making allegations that they could not prove.
The anti-Corruption scialist got less than 1% of the vote, but is alleging fraud. It is just possible his complaint is politically motivated. But we will have to see if the Labour Party's evidence is robust or not (the Labour Party, even though they compiled the dossier, are not part of the petition).
