As sexual abuse starts at such a young age, perhaps its right that young children should be aware of the dangers at least. Its somewhat difficult to warn children of the dangers they face from paedophiles, without giving them some sort of sex education at the same time. Afterall, its not "Stranger-Danger" that is the main problem here, as most abuse some from family members and people known to the child.

Difficult decision I will agree, but perhaps its time we err on the side of caution here ?

It depends entirely on what is meant 'sex and relationship' education.

I would be extremely surprised if lessons geared towards seven year olds followed the same curriculum as those aimed at 15 year olds.

If it were, parents quite rightly, would be in uproar.

this is more to do with the birds and the bees than abuse prevention, I don't see how sex ed can prevent that.

SP, in the article they talk about sex and relationships, so I'd imagine that they propose to impart some sort of knowldege of the birds and the bees, no doubt in an infant appropriate lexicon.

Quite a few are past the theory at 14 years old TTT, many are parents themselves.

Apart from very rudimentary biology lesson with a penis drawn on a blackboard by a very red faced young female science teacher when I was about 13, my first proper Sex Education Lesson was when I joined the WRAF at the age of 18! Did me no harm!
