Should Airline Seats Be Allowed To Recline?

They only recline a couple of inches anyway which hardly helps sleep. I think they should be disallowed. The small extra comfort is way outweighed by the discomfort caused to those sitting behind.

So you buy a seat that reclines; a fellow passenger also buys a seat that reclines; said fellow passenger reclines their seat and you don't; as a result, you assault said fellow passenger; and you think this was an appropriate response.

Maybe you should consider not flying on airlines that offer reclining seats.

Anything that causes conflict at 20.000 ft without providng any actual benefit should be avoided. They only go back a few inches anyway - just enough to annoy the person behind without offering any tangible increase in comfort for the recliner.

It would be fine if there was a reasonable distance between the seats to start with, but as there obviously isn't in economy, the reclining facility is clearly more trouble than it's worth.

A bit like providing a handle on the side of theatre seating that allows you to raise your seat by 6 inches - great idea, except for the person behind you, who's then forced to do the same, and so on. Pointless.
