They may simply have a different perspective on what his treatment should be and where his treatment should take place. You might want to hope you never come head to head with authority in a similar situation. Some really horrible and ill thought out comments here against people faced with awful choices.

Ummmm, their reasons are irrelevant. If medical professionals consider this child needs specialist treatment, then he needs specialist treatment. This search across borders hasn't been conducted for no reason.

I read this, which I agree is at odds with the hospital statements...

There have been other references to this but as I say we only get fed dribs and drabs of information - if he can be saved then I hope with all my being that he is.

Just some, we actually at this point have no idea.
