Not before time. Maybe the politicians can do something right for once and get his parents released ASAP.
I'm amazed in the circumstances that the UK authorities have maintained the pressure in this case whilst a 5 year old boy is denied contact with his parents who are hundreds of miles away. Most of what has subsequently occurred since their arrest has been totally unnecessary. Why is the extradition still being sought? It makes no sense whilst delaying the poor kid's treatment.

Whether it will make a difference or not, Chill...I have just signed the petition to have this family reunited....it's heartbreaking and cruel beyond belief...x
my simplistic view on it is. the parents are being punished to dare to question the hospital consultants, and the embarrassment of the ward staff at not knowing where this child was for 6 hours,,,,,,,,, so the outcome deprive this ill child of contact with his family. ( the child's best interest are paramount ''........... don't think so. :(
anne, I think you have stated the root of the matter.
Punished is just the right word, Anne.....the times MrG asked me not to complain about a mistake or dirty room because the staff didn't like complaints.....
Wow, Chill! The number of signatures since I signed is staggering....☺
Signed... let's hope it does some good
that's the first online petition I've ever signed.
Have any of you put it on your Facebook page? Would certainly help to spead the word and get more signatures

My opinion as well. They even continued with making Aysha a Ward of Court.

Have signed petition as well, 123,000 and counting.

That it has got to the stage it currently is is frankly embarrassing.
We can prosecute two loving parents to the ends of the earth with what would appear to be extreme malice in order to save face but can lose a terror suspect on UK soil when he emerges from a mosque in a burkha.
Way to go UK!
Not on FB, Mazie.....but I have emailed as many friends and relatives as I can asking them to sign.....the first time ever I have done this....and will now look for any I have missed.

I feel so strongly about this because it is so close to what happened to us.... I know first hand how they can threaten and punish.

It's too easy for folk to say the hospital was the best place for the little boy... that is so often not the case.
Feel the same gness.. My experience with my Mum in the hospitals sounds about the same as you had with MrG.. Facebook is a great tool with petitions like this one
here is where the malice comes into action from the hospital authorities/police in Southampton, IF these parents must be kept in custody, just how simple would it be to at least have them with their son in hospital, ( the child already has a police guard ) ?

Matters appear to be moving on apace if current news reports are anything to go by and I'll wager the boys parents will be free by the end of the day.

Fingers crossed.

Signed, it is paramount he is back in the arms of his family immediately.

Sky News ticker says case will be heard this afternoon.
I cannot see any justification for keeping the parents in custody (and none for arresting them, via a European Arrest Warrant in the first place). They have committed no offence and the child was not in danger.

As has been mentioned, the root cause of this lies with the parents having the temerity to go against the wishes of arrogant doctors. They clearly mislede the police by suggesting the child was in a dangerous situation, but the police should have been more diligent in their enquiries before going to court for the EAW. They even managed to get a search warrant for the child's grandmother's house even though they knew by then that the couple and their children had left the country.

It's an outrageous abuse of police powers and I hope somebody is brought to book over it. But somehow I doubt it.

NJ,
I've no doubt that once this debacle is over there will be a review of policies by the hospital and police, lessons will be learned, some personnel will be censured but nothing more and new guidelines drawn up blah, blah, blah ad infinitum.......
