Another couple of percentage points for the YES camp I suppose.

Lets hope it a little safer for him today. The last time he was north of the border, he had to take refuge in a Pub, which, being Farage can't have been too much of a trial but he then had to be rescued by the Police ! Tough call for the Plods...do they rescue him again, or let him be pelted with buckets loads of porridge !

I must say that Mikey sometimes replicates his avatar, Aneurin Bevan, who could drone on for ever. A nasty, vindictive piece of work he was too.

Thanks Baz ! ...your normal rude and uninteresting contribution..... I'm so glad that I have been able to entertain you so well !

I shall ignore the ignorant and unintelligent remarks that you have just made Obiter...I have debated with far better people than you, I can assure you. Stick and stones and all that !
Bevan once described the Tories as, 'lower than vermin'. Does that strike you as an intelligent remark or do you subscribe to his view?
Question Author
What he actually said Obiter was " The Tories are like rats you know...you think you have got rid of them but they always come back"

He also said this ..."No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin "

Those were his views, honestly given, as he had seen the damage that they had done. You might not agree of course, but would you dispute his right to say these words ?

A fine use of rhetoric in my opinion. He said it so that it would remembered and he was right, as even you can recall it ! Here's another political statement..." The Health Service is safe in our Hands"
And people wonder why the YES campaign is prospering.

He should fill up his car at the new "Cameron, Clegg and Miliband Petrol Station and Specialist Farage Mechanics" that has mysteriously opened today at Gretna ...
Mikey, one definition of the word 'rhetoric' is '(in writing or speech) the undue use of exaggeration or display', and this is what applies in the case of that vitriolic speech. Your hero is long dead - as is the philosophy of the old Labour Party you cling to so determinedly.
a bit later than the rest of them? Just think, there was very nearly a day when England (and Wales) went without them all at once.

This is rich coming from a person who also wrote.

*** Tough call for the Plods...do they rescue him again, or let him be pelted with buckets loads of porridge ***

*** Not quite sure what he is on about here, although with Farage that is not unusual. ***

*** Farage is one giant hypocrite, and I agree with dave when he described UKIP as "fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists". ***

*** that is precisely what Farage was blabbering on about this morning ! ***

*** I can assure everyone that I, like the majority of British people, don't want us to leave the EU. ***

"People in glass houses and all that".

"as is the philosophy of the old Labour Party you cling to so determinedly"

I'll assume that was down to typos and should of been of been dementedly
Will he be there to promote the ayes or nays?
Looks like Obiter has got the measure of mikey....didnt take long.

He'll be getting the usual insults now, especially as mikey detests people who dont prescribe to his views...oh well
Question Author
I always know when I have won a debate on AB, as lots of people will stop debating and start using personal insults instead, and its always the usual suspects...so much easier I suppose than addressing the issue !
Question Author
Thanks Baldric....very interesting.
Standing on the outside looking in on this debate the only thing you have won, mikey, is a gold medal for more bucket loads of antipathy thrown at you!!
Just heard Farage on the radio. He was expressing the opinion that the Queen should intervene in the referendum debate. What planet does this man come from?
"I always know when I have won a debate on AB, as lots of people will stop debating and start using personal insults "

no theyre not insults they are statements of fact....theres a difference , but as is usual on here you dont like it when your wrong and its pointed out to you.

And as to winning a debate...well you havent even come close, because its not about debating is it, its about you making sure you shove your opinions down the boards collective throat....as usual
mikey, you’ve gone from, apparently, finding humour in a politician potentially being physically attacked by his opponents, to failing to understand what a speaker is saying, to erroneously claiming that the majority of the British people wish this country to remain in the EU, to lauding a vitriolic speech that, if it related to an ABer and were posted here would be deemed to be personally abusive and removed. How is that winning a debate? I see no victory. Look again.
Sandy " Will he be there to promote the ayes or nays ?"

He is there to promote Farage, and nothing else.
