Some lessons are difficult ones to learn. We should learn from this it was a bad idea to put into legislation, PCC's that could not be sacked. I expect the Tories to correct this fault asap in the forthcoming new session of Parliament.

/// Mr Wright said he was stepping down to ensure the "important issues" outlined in the report could be discussed and considered "without
distraction". ///

Very chivalrous of him, but why didn't he step down when first asked?

It was always going to happen. He had no choice. As you say though, why wait?
I predicted a few days ago that it wouldn't be long before he went. What an utter disgrace that he has taken so long to do what he should have done weeks ago. Good riddance...at last. Teresa May has it right here ::

It was inevitable , should of happened sooner.

Response is a simple "Good, he should have gone at the start". Does anyone know what happens to the other boards etc. that he draws money from for sitting as the PCC? Has he had to leave those?
This man is unfit for any public office ever again. Not so much for his involvement in the child abuse scandal, but the long, drawn out intransigence about his resignation. He has made a complete fool of himself and deserves no further part in public life.
I'm shocked, I thought he went a fortnight ago.
TTT.... a lot has happened in the last 14 days !

Last week he appeared before the Commons Home Select Committee and made a complete pillock of himself. I have never seen this Committee so incensed by any witness brought before them. The Chairman asked him in no uncertain terms to resign and it took another week for him to do so.

AB forbids me from using the language that I would like but suffice to say that this man is a complete disgrace. But he isn't the only one that should be considering his position by any means.
What did he state as his reasons for staying in the post?
Ric.ror
I got a price which is £1650 from Blair Roofing and Maintenance. They will do every piece of wood that is on the house. Im going to ask if they will knock anything off for cash. Tele number is 08004748537. He is a lovely guy.
Rosie...have you posted this in the right place, and we don't normally give exact telephone numbers on here !
Roc.ror...because he hadn't done anything wrong apparently !

Here is the BBC link. Go straight down to the clip where he is being questioned by the Committee, and you will get a taste of his behaviour.

A major factor in his staying on had the to be the eye-wateringly high salary that he now given up, so it all appears to be about greed and nothing about duty.
