This is being introduced because of the huge crowd which attended the last event. How will this stop the crowds from coming, will the police be out saying if you haven't a ticket you mustn't look up?

You're not funding them, DT. It is funded by sponsors and the GLA. Last year the GLA stumped up £1.5m for this "free" show so the 100,000 tickets at a tenner won't cover it. This show is a ridiculous idea held in a totally unsuitable environment. Best thing would be to knock it on the head entirely.

Edinburgh charges a fortune just to go into the street for New Years Eve and also for some other fireworks events. How can they charge if you stand outside the charging area and watch?
