indecent assault - that is the old crime - so the sentence will be 2 weeks in prison and going to bed early for a year.

Travis has been found guilty of indecently assaulting a researcher on the Mrs Merton Show in 1995.

A jury at Southwark Crown Court convicted him by a majority verdict of 10-2.

He was found not guilty of indecently assaulting a woman while he was working on a production of Aladdin in 1990.

And there was no verdict on a further charge of sexually assaulting a journalist at his home in 2008.

It relates to a 1995 event so it before the new law of 2003.

It may just be cleaning the governors car for a week ...

I guess he must have been one of those who considered grabbing tits & bum a form of flirting. I've met one or two of those in the past. Strange how some folk can't or simply never think of putting themselves in the position of those they are affecting.

If at first you don't get the verdict you want. Try, try and try again.
I cant say I've followed this case and I'm certainly no fan of DLT but does anyone else feel the DPP(if that's what they're called nowadays) seem to take a stance on certain cases and wont rest (or stop spending money) until they get their preferred outcome.

to a degree , but its more to do with justifying the expenditure and time etc on the case, all these cases and no guilty verdicts wouldnt have gone down too well, and thats being kind about it

That was pretty much Travis's defence - saying 'I am a tactile person ...' which translates as - "If I feel like grabbing parts of any woman within reach, then that's fine, because i am being 'tactile', so no harm is done ... because I'm the cuddly cornflake, how could anyone mind?"

The reality is, what he was doing was sexual assault, and the women in question did mind - very much, and did not see him as 'tactile' and 'cuddly', but what he was - a celebrity using his perceived status to behave in an inappropriate manner under the misunderstood perception that his 'celebrity' mad everything alright, and no-one would dream of minding.

Travis comes over as a boorish self-centrered ignorant man, and his abhorrent hehaviour has finally caught up with him.

I did email Alison Saunders ( DPP for it was she) on this very subject. Especially the waster of money on failed historic prosecutions

and she emailed me back -OK so one of the underlings emailed me back and said - it is meant to work like that....

If that was really his defense that that was tantamount to a guilty confession. No wonder he hasn't been found innocent on all counts. Did he defend himself or something ?

alisons reply email had no sense of that at all.

in fact she wanted to bring more cases. I was not able to get transmit the idea that including the bottom 50 cases would just bring the conviction rate down. because the next bottom 50 would be even worse non-starters

and the answer is apparently - make conviction easier !
