The site needs to be cleared, and those living rough sent back home. I have absolutely zero problem with economic migrants, but to leave your own country to live rough is stupid, and dangerous.
Apparently Buck House has hundreds of empty rooms, and Chas wants to open it as an hostel for homeless potential terrorists when ER2 pops her clogs.
They're 'illegal' immigrants so I doubt they will be put up anywhere. Conditions in their own country must be pretty grim to live like that.
I've lived in worse places. Mind you, I am in Wales.
There's lovely.

Don't let mikey hear you.
"They're 'illegal' immigrants..."

No they are not, Zacs. Apparentlythey hail from Poland, Bulgaria and Romania. Those countries are all members of the EU so their citizens have a right to be here.

What we are witnessing here is one of the many benefits of our EU membership.

Good, innit?
My apologies, you are correct (again ;-)) NJ. It was the reference to them living illegally which confused me. I should have been more thorough.
how poor and desperate are their families, that these men live in such squalor to provide for them ?
However poor and desperate they might be, anne, there is no justification at all for them coming to the UK, living rough on public land, dumping their rubbish and bodily wastes in the canal, working illegally and sending the proceeds home. Their desperation is not our problem and their presence here is a by-product of our EU membership.

Only EU member nations seem to tolerate hoardes of what can only be described as vagrants roaming around their towns, cities and countryside. Other nations with any pride round them up and ship them out (if they ever make it in in the first place, that is).
^^

Foreign vagrants, that is. Most countries have to put up with the home grown variety.
They even move their own crooks on by showing travel guides that extol the virtues of Britain.

The site will be cleared and they will just move somewhere else. They are here legally so they can't be deported.

If you read the article AOG they are all temporary 'immigrants' most having been here for 6 months or so and intending to leave by Christmas. They are all working and send money home. No suggestion they are working illegally or 'cash in hand'. There must be a demand for their services or they would not be here. The average wage in Bulgaria or Rumania is about 20% of the minimum wage here so in 6 months they can send home what it would take 3 years to earn at home. How many of us would be prepared to do what they have done, move to a foreign country and live rough for 6 months if it meant that they could send home over 3 years earnings.
blame the government who have allowed these visitors to set up ' home' . if my family were desperate for cash I would do anything to help them, would you ?
