I notice that once again Britain leaps into sending troops into Ebola affected west African countries, but refuses to protect it's own people by refusing to screen for Ebola victims at its borders, like the US are doing.
Could it be that they think more about the feelings of foreigners than they do about their own people, or could it be that they are afraid of being called racist for only picking on West Africans?

The World Health Organisation forecast that 100 million people might be infected by the year 1990, and the Royal College of Nursing in the UK forecast that one in fifty people in Britain would have the disease by the early 1990s.

Zac.........the Medics are not always good prognosticators.
However with AIDS antiviral treatment was instigated around 1986 and has been improved over the past 20 years or so, hence modifying the predictions.
At the moment there is no antiviral or other specific treatment for Ebola and the outbreak is still out of control.
But your point is well taken.
