It's a fantastic sight lyn,Trish and I had a day in London a fortnight ago and we made a point of going to the Tower to see the poppies.they're one by a man called Paul Cummins and when the last poppy is placed on November 11 the total will be 888,246. My avatar is a shot I took of the poppies coming out of a window in the Tower and spreading out into the moat and as I said lyn it's a sight to see.
It does look spectacular, but I was very surprised when I went to dinner at a very wealthy friend's house at Christmas time last year. I commented on the magnificent Poinsettia on a table in her hall, and it transpired that it, along with a large food hamper, had been a Christmas gift to her and her husband, who is ex-RAF, from the local branch of the Royal British Legion. I know from personal experience that most of the big charities squander other people's money to a degree, but I had rather hoped the Royal British Legion was different. Disappointingly, it isn't.
