What I believe F. Merkel means is that she is not willing to compromise on the issue of free movement across the EU and if the UK insists on changes to the rules they will be out of luck (as anaybody with half a brain has been saying all along). She is suggesting that the only way the UK will be able to restrict migrants from the EU is for us to leave the Union. And she's absolutely correct.

This puts David Cameron and his government in an interesting position.
On the one hand, he has always said that EU membership - albeit on re-negotiated terms - is right for Britain, and he is keen to stay in.
On the other hand, he has painted himself into a corner by pledging to heed the increasing clamour from the population to do something about unimpeeded immigration.
Which way can he go from here?

Farrie, If our P.m. had the back bone he would tell the EU to ____ off, It is a disrespect to the people that give their lives for this dumping ground only to be dictated by a country that millions here in the UK give their lives. It used to be GREAT BRITAIN, Now, come here you can have what you want once you cross the water.
