This savage cruelty ( or threats of such savage cruelty) make me wonder what this family is doing living in the UK in the first place. Is this what is meant by multiculturalism ?

Sounds like they left Norway as the authorities were on to them. Sadly, I don't think this is an uncommon situation.

In 2012, the FMU (Forced Marriage Unit)had to give advice or support related to possible forced marriages in 1,485 cases. Last year, that number had dropped to 1,302. The FMU obviously will not deal with every case of forced marriage in the country, just those it has been made aware of so the true scale of the issue is unclear.

If the parents are guilty of such threats and have a case to answer then I don't think allowing them to leave (without the children) and washing one's hands of the affair is really the morally correct way forward.

To heck with 'different culture' arguments, this is simply wrong, and whilst here they should accept that and also the result of making such threats.

They bring their kids up in a western world and the kids love all the freedom that entails and then when the kids reach a certain age they try and inflict their ancient ways on them and expect them to conform without question - mad ! It's like that poor girl that was murdered by her parents in my home town when she wouldn't conform to their ways after being brought up westernised. Thank God they are serving long life sentences now.
