/// In a powerful critique of Mr Miliband’s party, Tottenham MP David Lammy – a London mayoral frontrunner – said Labour’s traditional working class base was being driven away by the ‘disdain’ of ‘liberal, professional’ frontbenchers who failed to understand their anger about immigration. ///
/// That doesn’t mean we should be complacent about bringing people from different cultures together in modern Britain, from encouraging newcomers to learn English, to protecting our national heritage and getting serious about a national civic service for all young people. ///

mikey, Labour won the recent by election in Manchester in a Labour stronghold by just 600 votes from UKIP, when previously it was 6,000 to a Tory second.
Ed should be worried just as much as Dave and it's evident he is.

We see you putting forth such quotes almost on a daily basis, if you are correct why aren't you shouting UKIP's praises from the roof tops, instead of showing how very scared you are of them?

AOg...you should have gone to Specsavers ! I have said on numerous occasions that I hope people vote UKIP in Tory held seats, as this will only mean a Labour victory more likely...even the Tories have cottoned to that that now. Next time you question me, I shall direct you to this post !
But I reserve the right to call UKIP an absolute shower, which is what they are.

there's enough evidence available to back that. but don't make the mistake - as the major parties are still doing - that those who vote UKIP are similarly an absolute shower. at present UKIP's message is the one that the electorate are keen to listen to. the politicos would do well not to lose sight of that. describing UKIP voters as bigoted, racist or knuckle-draggers isn't helping.

Oh so that is where you get your red framed, rose tinted specs from is it?

Yes but that is not what the point I am making, but what you do feel frightened of is of people voting UKIP in Labour held seats, this is what you are really afraid of, now isn't it?

AOG...I have made my position perfectly clear on this matter.
I see UKIP as being a problem largely for the Tories, as indeed the Tories do themselves. They have already lost 2 seats to UKIP and Labour hasn't. I'm not keen to waste any more time repeatedly making this clear...it is Sunday afternoon after all. So I will not be responding any more.

He is quoted as saying:
‘A sense of mutual disdain between the mainstream parties and working class England is driving voters away from politics, or towards so-called “anti-politics” parties such as Ukip.’
They don't sound like the words of a man who is going to join up with Farage somehow! As I posted elsewhere, no Labour MP is going to join UKIP, that is the stuff of fantasy, and almost certainly no more Tory MPs either.

Gromit
// In fact, Lammy is admirably blunt: "We are a pro-immigration party, we are a pro-European party. What Nigel Farage and Ukip are trying to peddle is an old tune." //
That doesn't seem to be the impression he seems to be giving here, unless of course he talks with 'Forked Tongue'?

Yes we all know you have, but you still have not answered the real question the one that you have failed to answer on numerous occasions, that being,
Why do you and your Labour party seem so afraid of UKIP if it is true what you say which is, " it is only the Tories that need to show concern"?
/// I'm not keen to waste any more time repeatedly making this clear...it is Sunday afternoon after all. So I will not be responding any more. ///
Pity you have taken the easy way out, just like those politicians react, when they whip off their microphones and storm out of the TV studio, after being confronted with an awkward question.
