I Don't Hear Our Right Wing Friends Clamouring For Mitchell's Blood ...
I don't hear our Right Wing friends clamouring for Mitchell's blood in the way they were baying for the maligned P C Rowland's.
Had the case gone the other way, the usual suspects (e.g. AOG, TTT) would rush on here demanding Rowland's dismissal.
Why am I not surprised.

This is a totally unfair, and rather an unscrupulous question.
You need to wait until you see a story about a Muslim verbally assaulting a gay man or lesbian in the street.
At that point, you can sit back and enjoy the spectacle of the right wingers try to balance their support of freedom of speech on one hand with their animosity towards Islam and the gays on the other.
The last time that happened, the AB Editor had to reboot the AnswerBank server, because it was in danger of imploding.*
(*This actually happened - June 2011...there still scorch marks...I kid you not).

As a right-winger myself I'm trying to make sense of your post. I don't understand the hypothetical dilemma which you appear to be proposing: what conflict of principle, moral or otherwise, do you think your scenario (Muslim attacks homosexual) presents to me? Please explain.

I should clarify - as evidenced by so many posts on AB, right wing hypocrite have a descending list of hate figures:
Muslims
Gays
Feminists
The PC Brigade
Left wingers
Russell Brand
Etc
It becomes incredibly difficult for them to take a stand when one of their targets targets another.
Remember when Joe 90 used to get into that contraption that went spinning around? That's what it's like when a right winger (sometimes cruelly referred to as a 'right whinger') has to take a stand on a story where two or more of their hate figures are involved.
For them (and I honestly didn't think of you in these terms), it's like trying to play Kerplunk on the deck of the Titanic...

To be fair sp, left whingers have exactly the same problem. Steam starts coming out of their ears when they're trying to work out which of two different minorities they should be siding with, when the minorities are in opposition.

To be honest - I've seen far less hypocracy amongst the left-leaning members of AB's News section, and I have a theory asto why...
Those on the political 'right' tend to reach decisions based on emotion, whereas those on the political 'left' tend to reach conclusions on broad facts. Both processes have their advantages and disadvantages - but broadly speaking...those on the right tend to think that complex issues have simple answers (I would strongly suggest that they generally don't); and those who lean to to left think that simple problems need complex solutions (again - not so).
