*** All those Middle Eastern names - what's wrong with traditional British names like Noah, Jacob, Joshua, Ethan...***
I think you will find that baz was taking into account that this is primarily a Christian country, so Noah, Jacob, Joshua and Ethan would be quite in order being classed as British names.
But it seems that Oliver is No1.
/// But ONS statistics paint a very different picture. Because the official body doesn't lump together diminutives or alternative spellings, Oliver comes out on top as the most popular boys name. ///

Its been around ever since Monty Python days, mamya, the 'stan' an addition, yes. It's just an expression of how far some of our communities have gone.
Yes, I'll agree that there are some benefits but also there are costs, the complete change of the urban environment and culture that Bolton once had. However, having said that, look at Salford now and how that has changed! For the better? Indeed, that may be questionable.
I can remember the shock of driving up the M6 several years ago, after a considerable absence from the area, and finding the old water cooling towers on the east side of the motorway had been pulled down. How that place has changed too, but I think that Preston has generally developed for the better. What's your opinion on Bolton then?
