The news only emerged after a letter from the Metropolitan police to the Commons Speaker, John Bercow, about the arrest was referred to on a publicly available Commons order paper. Strange, that.

The letter said: “I write to inform you that on 2nd December 2014, Mark Pritchard MP was arrested at 6.14pm at Holborn Police Station in London by MPS officers.

“Mr Pritchard was questioned by police and released on bail later the same evening at 10.16pm. The matter is subject to further investigation and is sub judice at the present time.”

No details as yet so not much of a story to comment on, unless you are trying to make a political point over something that is really serious?

At the moment, it's only an ALLEGATION of rape. Let's wait and see. IF, he's charged, tried and then found guilty, then yes, I'll condemn him, but until then... In the meantime, let's all have some sympathy for the alleged victim in all this.
