Yest another barmy EU ruling, this time on obesity.

Our legal history is littered with inluential comments by certain judges which have been unjust.
It took the EU Court of Justice to make "whistle-blowing" on Companies and Large Organisations who commit grave misdemeanors legal and to protect the whistle-blower from what used to be simply the sack.
Give credit where it is due rather than just highlight the apparently stupid.

sp1814 sent me a link last week on 15/12/14 at 1423. Subject_ Ukip again..........
Having only just read it he seems to try to convince me that EU rulings are only a small percentage of laws, statutes, dictates we have foisted on us. Only about 50% ish apparently. Well I believe 1% is a percentage too much.
It is odd that Brussels are worried about obesity. After all isn't it the UK tax payer who pays the Lions share of funding to their "Fat cats" to keep their corrupt unnaccounted for regime on the gravy train?

Dear Tora Tora Tora,
"It often does appear that the primary funtion of the EU is to achieve in peace what could not be achieved in war". Sorry but I just don't follow.
The EU has helped keep the European peace. The major players in the EU, Germany and France fought each other in the war, with France as our ally. Can you elaborate on this statement please - it doesn't make sense to me.

So that's where all the Danish bacon comes from. Obese porkers. If he is so obese as to be unfit to do a job then he should be provided with a case worker and a carer who is not obese and fit enough to monitor the problems of his obesity. At his own expense of course. When he has listened to his advisors and mentors and may be lost enough weight to do gainful employment he can leave the litigation band wagon!!
If he has medical problems regarding his obesity ( Thyroid issues etc) then I do him a disservice in what I have written and hope he can overcome his weight problem through medical treatment.

Dear Tora Tora Tora,
Ty you for your reply. I disagree that the EU has taken-over our country but respect yor own view and thank you for your time in replying.
As you know we joined the EU and confirmed this in the Maastricht treaty with nothing of note in Lisbon.
We are not subject to all that the EU decides as I understand it. In fact few of us, including our politicians, understand exactly what membership of the EU means in detail because it would take years to plod through all the treaties beginning with the Treaty of Rome.
Our real problem is that if we leave the EU virtually all foreign investment in our industry would be transferred to Europe or face huge tariffs.
The Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem parties are all for us being in the EU. The USA want us in and even if the Scots Nats had won, they wanted to join.
Have you wondered why the Ukraine wants-in? Rhetorical only, no need to answer. Today it's all about joining a large trading-bloc or perish.
I just believe it is in our Nation's best interest to get into the heart of the EU to increase our influence and accept the reality, warts and all.
As for youngmafbog's conspiracy theory that "they" are trying to wreck us because we have voiced dissent - I don't think that is a credible theory to say the very least:)
With Kindest Regards,

I saw Karsten Kaltoft on the news last night. Although he certainly looked overweight he was striding along walking his dog with no apparent difficulty.
From the outside he does not look disabled and he protests he isn't disabled. The Danish council stated that they were making redundancies because there were not enough children who require his services.
It begs the question why did obesity and disability come into the equation. He states he is not disabled and the Council state he was made redundant due to lack of children for him to care. Why couldn't the case be adjudicated at an Industrial redundancy tribunal and leave crass EU court's decisions out of it. Thanks once again the EU. You are an expense that commerce and business can ill afford.

Ty for your comments SirOracle. very ecouraging..
I come onto AB more to learn than to teach or preach.
In this case, I had an idea that I would be in a minority of one but was interested in the depth of intellect of the Anti-EU views.
Of course I recognise that there are many rational arguments for certain reforms of the EU although I am sure only a tiny minority of the UK want total withdrawal.
I certainly hope this small sample does not represent the Anti-EU views of the U.K population as a whole.
The thought that our citizens might be so abyssmally stupid (and hence rude to anyone who voices an alternative opinion) is still a massive shock and really horrifying.
I take comfort in the fact that the original question probably recruited a barmy army and that they and even those with a few grey cells will spike the Tory guns by voting UKIP in the General Election.

// //Unelected Eu Judges//
That fact is not actually mentioned in the Link.
Are UK Judges elected then?//
no of course they arent for chrissakes
Natural history of judges is different on the continent - the very best of the law skoolz go onto judging skool and for example in France kick off as juges d'instruction ( investigating magistrates a species we dont have in the UK) and work their way up
Here, the older generation of lawyers ( usually barristers apply, and then get appointed to county courts and then like Shri Blair work their up and retire at 75 as judges ( but the pension is good good good )
EU judges are all appointed from candidates supplied by the respective countries' ministried of justice
