The on-line is slightly different...but that we are returning to the 1930s with our perception of Jewish folk

Is this true and, given that the profile of AB is probably not that much different to UK society at large, which half of ABers ascribe to these views?

Highly disagree with that statement. I demographic of the news section is older 50-60+ and people tend to get more conservative with age.

I have often been accused of being anti-semitic on here when I have criticised Isreal the State and in particular, its foreign policy. I would not admit to being anti-semitic, and the 50% figures seems way too high. When I am out, I rarely hear anyone calling Jews but I heard criticism of muslims all the time.

the demographic of the entire site is predominantly older - the Ed did give the figures once, though I can't remember where. As you might expect, it's dominated by retired people who don't have anything to do all day rather than working people who do. And most retired people spend their time pining for the 1950s.

We tend to like the decade in which we were in our late teens and 20s. That is when we first have work, first have money, first have relationships, first have a family. A lot happens, and we are far to busy to worry about the country/world.

When we retire, we naturally look back on those early years with affection. And we have more time to see the worlds problems and be gloomy about them.

I don't believe this is true. As gromit correctly points out, you need to distinguish between anti-semitism and criticism of Israel's behaviour as a country which are two entirely different things.

50% is probably about right for the number of people who are critical of Israel, but way too high for the number of people who can accurately be described as anti-semitic.

I can't recall anyone being anti-semitic in my real life at all for years. As for AB being a microcosm of society at large I find that vastly untrue. I work in a largely male dominated engineering environment, hardly anyone is anywhere near as liberal forgive-all hug-all as AB - you want to spend a couple of lunchtimes with me in the smoking shelter to hear what the man in the street thinks, it would horrify some ABers.

well this obviously has stirred things up. Anti-semitic I am not, after all I was married to one for over twenty years, so I do have a pretty good appreciation of what one Jewish family thinks and opines about.
