For example a number of channels on TV show old shows like Porridge, the Two Ronnies and so on, and it is amazing how many things happen, or are said, that would have the "PC" brigade up in arms nowadays.
In fact some of these shows are now censored, often for the most trivial things, and if I watch an old Porridge for example there are scenes and lines that have now been cut that I know were in the original show.
I saw a Porridge the other day where the script writers had set up a lovely scene ready for a great punch line from Ronnie Barker, but while they had left the whole scene in, they had deleted the punchline at the end rendering the rest of the scene pointless.
Also Gold have been repeating the Two Ronnies and it is amazing how often a sexy busty girl is brought on so that one or other (or both) of the Ronnies can leer at her (usually her boobs or backside).
In fact I know that Beny Hill gets a lot of criticism about his treatment of women, but many TV shows did the same thing back then, even Monty Python has a few scenes where girls are just shown for their "sexy" effect.
People (mostly men) just did not know how to "write" for women back then.
Now I know that some of these scripts do contain many words and phrases that are not used nowadays, and it is probably right that they are removed.
However it just goes to prove my point that life was a lot "easier" then than it is now (even if some minority groups were made fun of).
So it is not just multiculturalism that has made life "harder"

//The 12-inch dolls, designed for children aged 18 months and above//
//'It's wrong for our youngsters to grow up thinking non-white skin colours are worth less.//
So kids of 18 months know the price of their toys and will assume white to be better.
What utter nonsense, this women is simply out to make trouble. I would not be surprised if she wanted big compo and Argos told her where to get off.

This partially explains why in my smug liberal way, I tend to look down on Daily Mail readers.
The crux of this story is that ONE woman complained.
One.
Just one.
I am astonished that more dailymailers don't realise that they are being pandered to.
Who is this Lisa Riley?
Is it the same woman who used to be in Emmerdale?
And notice that this was reported to The Sun's Emer Martin, Rob Pattinson.
Is that the same Robert Pattinson who starred in the Hunger Games movies?
I can understand The Sun printing such nonsense, but surely the Daily Mail should be concentrating on filling it's pages with stories about Kim Kardashian's bottom, and pictures of eight year old girls which it describes as 'all grown up'?
Pathetic really...

/// Another non-news item from the ever faithful DM. Argos have explained that this was due to a genuine pricing error. I have just checked their website and both dolls are now priced the same. ///
/// So, usual scaremongering by the DM...what a surprise ! ///

Multiculturalism has been around for most of my life, and I am older than SP ( I think ! )
Anybody who thinks that all our non-white, non-Christian people are going to "go home" had better get real think again and. I think Britain is a much more colourful place now, than it was when I was very young. If Argos sells few non-white dolls a year, than so what ?
SP...you say "I am astonished that more daily-mailers don't realise that they are being pandered to" Well, perhaps they like to be pandered to as, as it removes the onerous task of making their minds up themselves, rather than be told by a newspaper what to think.
