I am rather surprised this has not been discussed.
Bristol is implementing two smoke free zones. I feel this is just going a bit too far. What next fat people free zones, or poor people free zones etc.

Until the Governement bans the sale of tobacco altogether no-one should dictate what smokers should do. There are be designated areas for smokers who are working or attending matters in a building. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with smoking outdoors as long as it's not offending other people, young children etc. Smokers pay enough for their pleasure they have rights too.
I understand from today's papers, that these zones are voluntary. It will be interesting to see what the response is amongst smokers. Personally I think its worth a trial to see if it works.
I used to like sitting outside a country Pub in the summer, having lunch and enjoying the fresh air. But now so many Beer Gardens just reek of fag ends and cigarette smoke.
