In light of the horrific burning of the Jordan Pilot, what should happen to those British citizens who choose to join ISIS, when they return to these Islands?

They should not be allowed to return.
When they return? They shouldn't be allowed to return, ever. Also there should be no flights whatsoever to or from any country where ISIS is operating.
Why would they choose to return to the infidel ?
Anyway who says they'll survive one the governments get their act together ?

Well bang goes any hopes of me holidaying in Turkey then. ISiS aren't operating there yet but that seems to be the gateway for UK scumbag jihadists.
3.5 years in jail?

When I passed the TV in our office, I saw the breaking news on Sky, and that's what had been handed out to someone convicted of just that today.

Seems reasonable...
I'm not sure that you can shift national policy on the basis of outrage.

Surely the arrangements should be the same as they have always been - not ramped up on the basis of one more atrocity.

These decisions have to be made dispassionately.
I don't think they should be allowed back. They have made their beds and must lie in them.
//These decisions have to be made dispassionately. //

Indeed they do. If we're going to let them back at all, lock them up and throw away the key. No ifs, buts, or excuses. That's dispassionate.

Not sure our definitions of 'dispassionate' line up on this one!
Should not be allowed back in our country !!!!

I'm in no doubt of that.

I am not sure where i stand on this one.

Young teenagers do stupid things......we all have done them......but should they suffer all their lives for a poor decision?

If they are allowed to return, perhaps psychological profiling and first hand knowledge of the "enemy" may be invaluable.

I don't know.
Their offence is treasonable & imprisonable if they return.

"...Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as "...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aiding or involved by such an endeavor...."

Are we actually at war with the Islamic State?

Anyone who stands against us is clearly our enemy but what about those that went to fight Assad before the establishment of what we call ISIS. Those that went to fight oppression, to stick up for the weak.
-- answer removed --
Nothing.

Likewise people who return from IDS or mercenaries.
Interrogate then execute.
Gromit, what’s IDS?

Do you not differentiate between people who go as mercenaries to fight battles that don’t involve us and people who go to fight alongside enemies of this country – as IS is? Very strange.
one way ticket. we should not be spending money on rehabilitation or supervision on their return, sorry .
This. Google the link, it is too horrific to embed in AB. Only follow if you are made of hard stuff. Healing of the Believers’ Chests
