I think transgender refers to people who are changing or want to change their sex/gender, whereas intersex people are born with sexual, physical characteristics of both or neither male and female.
Transgender...denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender.

Intersex...the abnormal condition of being intermediate between male and female; hermaphroditism.

Thanks. I understand now.
I don't understand why people who sleep with their own and/or opposite sex, and those whose gender is changing or indeterminate are all lumped together under one umbrella term. The things seem to be completely unrelated.

I agree with Clover. Given the definition it would appear that intersex denotes a purely physical accident of nature.
Cloverjo has explained the difference perfectly.
Transgender's a route over the Pennines and intersex is a young person's European rail travel system.

I think.
Just another excuse to create yet another quango.
