Why not have one in 2015?
It is all a pack of lies, Gordie S, he will not be able to hold a referendum in. 2017 because he will not be in Government then. Its that simple.
Well Cameron promised a referendum at the last election and we never got one. It is a jam tomorrow promise. If the Conservatives win he will backtrack, he always has.
Because he's scared and doesn't know what to do to win the election. He's making a commitment far in advance so that he hopes to be able to fudge if they win the election.
The last proposed referendum was not an in/out one but whether or not to approve the Lisbon Treaty. He managed to fudge that on the grounds that as long as the Czech Republic refused to sign up it was not yet law. Once they had done so then it was a fait accompli. I don't think it will be so easy for him to wriggle out of this one; if he wins the election he will have no room for manoeuvre, except to say, "I lied, I didn't mean it".
Can't take that long to print a few voting forms surely.
...and the voting forms won't need to be very big. My answer won't take up much space.
We should have a referendum NOW, before the GE in May. Why the procrastination? Anyway, it'll never happen in 2017 as Mr Jelly Spine Cammy won't be PM after May. Who will though? Del boy Dave only makes a politicians chocolate-teapot type promise ,which means nowt. Lab will never have one, the LIMPs will never have one so who else is there? Oh yes, UKIP. Like them or dislike them, they will make that EU referendum a major priority. Rant over...

I am voting UKIP
How many of UKIPs policies are you voting for?

Where do they stand on education, The NHS, benefits, care homes....for instance? I haven't read their manifesto.
If he's got any sense he should promise to adhere result and have it in May on the same day as the GE.
Might not need a referendum if Greece collapses, if they are outed the whole bloc will come tumbling down.

Why not not have a referendum and just pull out of the EU
//Might not need a referendum if Greece collapses//

I agree, it is more likely to collpase if the Greeks stay in and force the Germans to capitulate on their demands.

As for waiting until 2017, I tend to agree with Gromit. I do not trust this piece of slime to deliver.
