Is Putin a latter day Hitler and could the world be sleepwalking towards another major war?

Two options are seemingly available: to cut Russia off from the SWIFT banking system which would be a devastating blow to the whole country of course and also would affect the west, but would completely kibosh the ability of the thieving of money from state assets which is known to go on.
Or arm Ukraine to enable it to fight back or at least hold the line. The so called DNR head honcho Zakarchenko has openly threatened to advance on Ukraine's second City Kharkiv, which is not even in Donbass. the assessment by at least one NATO official is that the anti Ukraine forces are now better armed than some NATO countries.
Question Author
I think the real danger would be if Putin, emboldened by successes on Russia's southern borders, thought he could turn his attention to countries that were once part of the Soviet empire but are now in NATO.
Then he'd be crossing the line drew in the sand.
It's interesting to note that the BBC's David Stern is asking the question I asked on here last week: what on earth were Hollande and Merkel thinking when they signed that agreement? Did they think the so-called 'rebels' were not going to fight on to take Debaltseve?
Were they simply too close to the action to see the blindingly obvious?
I think they were, ichkeria. Such patchwork deals have failed ostentatiously before. On the OP - OH and I have been drawing parallels for some months now and becoming increasingly worried.
Looks like we could get to know them a bit better , Sandy.

Anyone who has a low opinion of the news section of AB should cast their eye down the 'comments' underneath the link of the above post.
ichkeria>" Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 117 times in the days following the ceasefire deadline."

Where is your proof of that precise figure, ichkeria ?

mikey4444>"Putin's hands are dripping with blood over his meddling in the affairs of another sovereign nation."

Can you give us examples of this 'dripping blood' mikey?

ludwig>//Is Putin a latter day Hitler // > "Sort of. I'm pretty sure he'd like to restore the boundaries of the old USSR to their pre-80s 'glory days' if he could."

Can you give us some sort of analogies ludwig ?
And why are you "sure" Putin would "like to restore the boundaries of the old USSR to their pre-80s 'glory days' if he could." ?
Multiple attacks on Ukraine forces?
Perhaps you are about to claiming that the continued aggression is a fabrication of the 'western' press and the 'nazi junta'
Putin is a man who stands condemned not just for the deaths of all the 10,000 in Ukraine (if you include Russian military casualties that he wants to hide from his own people ) but the deaths of hundreds during his early days in government
I will try again ichkeria.

Where did you get your alleged fact that " Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 117 times in the days following the ceasefire deadline." ?

Was it from the same place of you got your allegation "Putin has even talked of persuading the U.S. to leave Europe and let the continent be carved up between Russis and the EU effectively. " ??? - another question you conveniently did not answer when asked

I think you will find Trident Is British not Scottish

The UK Trident programme encompasses the development, procurement and operation of the current generation of British nuclear weapons, and the means to deliver them.
It is the most expensive and the most powerful capability of the British military forces.
Operated by the Royal Navy and based at Clyde Naval Base on Scotland's west coast, at least one submarine is always on patrol to provide a continuous at-sea deterrent.
No thanks to Alex Salmond!!
I knew of the Russian settlements in the Baltic States, but am surprised by the scale of it. I'm quoting Wiki, which gives the percentage of "ethnic Russians" in Latvia and Estonia as about 25% in each. Lithuania (with which Russia no longer shares a border) has 5.8% according to Wiki. Can anyone confirm these figures?
At face value, then, plenty of scope for agitprop of the Eastern Ukraine type and Sudetenland-like justifications for an adventurerer.
Today's Times leads with a "warning" about Putin from Michael Fallon.
The large Russian populations date from the Soviet colonisation and illegal annexation (sound familiar) at various times in the past.
Since the fall of the Soviet Union Russian media has maintained an aggressive anti Bsltic propaganda and many Russians are conditioned to think that the natives off those countries are two headed Russian hating Nazis, a bit like the current propaganda being waged against Ukrainians.
sevenop I am not going to hunt around for chapter and verse on everything I say here If you that interested you can do it yourself
You are plainly an apologist for the Kremlin which is your affair
So is that a complete cop out ichkeria ?
I have tried previously looking for both those claims you made to no avail.
Facts and credible evidence do not seem to figure to many posters on this forum and that is sad.
Maybe you'll be claiming "they took babies from incubators..." next
Ichkeria did you see what happened when this guy who thought he was right was believed?
