Everyone on the world can watch the BBC free. My daughter in Australia and expats around Europe. Yet only the people who live here have to pay this extortionist charge to watch this leftie drivel. Their bias is one of the main reasons it should change. I see Rona Fairhead, head of the BBC Trust has been lambasted by MPs yesterday about the BBC squandering...

The BBC: one of the few things that makes us renowned abroad. Uniquely funded which means it must be publicly accountable and independent And actually unbiased to the point of farce. Also much cheaper than alternative subscription options.
So it always amazes me that a certain strand of allegedly patriotic right winger, especially the sort who bangs on all the time about our 'loss of sovereignty' within organisations like the EU, would see it done away with in favour of God knows what
I suspect that they do not actually speak for most people
What is anachronistic is the TV Licence. If a way can be found to replace that while maintaining the funding principle then hat would be ideal

The BBC s good reputation goes around the world and we should be proud of it.
They make a constant stream of excellent programs, in all styles and formats.
Their web site is fantastic and full of useful information, I look at it every day.
However I think the license fee IS unsustainable (rather like the radio license was when everyone started buying small transistor radios and putting radios in their cars).
But I would hate to see the BBC go as a huge percentage of my TV watching is BBC programs.

All the lefties love labours mouthpiece and true they do come up with a few good documentaries and drama's. The news I often find very biased.
It is wrong and very outdated to force people to pay for something, the BBC all along have tried to suppress competition using tax payers money (yes the licence fee is essentially a tax).
If people want the BBC then fine, they should pay for it in its entirety, but for those that dont wish to view it they should not have to contribute a penny.

I see Rona Fairhead, head of the BBC Trust has been lambasted by MPs yesterday about the BBC squandering hundreds of millions of pounds, handed out huge payoff to sacked staff, covered up sex abuse......I could go on.

Ichi, It's not just 'certain right-wingers' questioning the future of the BBC. This committee are publishing their report today but I couldn't find a current link to it.
