BBC News - Gary Glitter jailed for 16 years... http:// bbc.in/ 18tBbW4
Can you believe it...There was standing room only in court as loyal fans of the singer gathered in the public gallery to see him learn his fate.
Before the hearing they had huddled together, poring over a Glitter annual, sharing tales of their fandom.
Yes, that is easy to believe.
Even answerbankers have a problem calling their favourite king of pop hero a peadophile even when the evidence is clear.

there's always room for doubt, Talbot; there have been too many high-profile miscarriages of justice. I can't see any possibility of one here, though.

the length of sentence to be handed down appears to have given judge Mccreath a great deal to consider.

i knew if i said anything before about how guilty he was, what the response on here would have been.
I knew he was guilty from day one because in the early 90s i did some work with one of the original Glitter Band Members and he used to tell us Tour stories, literally sex drugs and rock and roll, and how GG used to point out young girls, apparrently 13 years was his opreference, at his concerts that he took a fancy too and his "minder" would do whatever to get them to him.
These cases hes been done for are by all accounts the thin end of the wedge.
and i was told all this well before peadophillia and these cases were a news item as such.
he always was and still is a sick predatory dangerous person.

I believe an issue with this case has been the manner in which Gadd has conducted himself.
He still lives in a fantasy world where he is Gary Glitter, pop star, and the public are desperate to see him on stage again - indeed he has said so when quoted during this case.
The fact is, he is the man who USED TO BE Gary Glitter, and he is now Paul Gadd, convicted paedophile, and the number of people who would pay to see him peform probably numbers in the hundreds across the world, and less than three figures in this country.
This unwillingness to come into the real world and show some remorse for the damage he has done has gone some considerable way to the length of his sentence, and like all child abusers - Jonathan King springs readily to mind - he honestly does not believe he has done anything wrong, and will die in denial.
If only denial was so easy for his victims.

After hearing, earlier this week on Radio 4, a former member of staff at Stoke Mandeville refuse to condemn the monster that was J Savile, the fact that fans of this particular monster turned up at Court today in his support shouldn't surprise anybody. There are none so blind as those that won't or can't see.
From what I can see on the BBC link, the Judge was disappointed not to able to sentence Gadd for longer. Lets hope he doesn't get out of prison again before dying, as this seems to be the only way that we can protect our young girls against an attack in the future.
Rot in Gadd.
