Roll on independence for Scotland and England. That way can each be governed by our own chosen numpties, using our own resources. The current setup where there's a priveleged set of 5 million people out 60 million (set to become even more priveleged after May), based on geographical location can't be right.
IN the C18, every parish in Scotland had a school and a dominie ( enacted by James IV I think )
and so it turned out that Scotland was the best educated nation in the world. Think Scottish Enlightenment. And so when an Enpire was carved out (1763) they came down in droves to run the Empire and .... didnt do a bad job
It's not exactly the most thrilling prospect, no. Having voted no to Independence, as most people living in Scotland did, I can't help but wonder what the price of SNP entering a coalition will be. Independence through the "back door" isn't totally unrealistic.
Looking at the Scots track record, it may have been a good few years ago, but they actually took their Country not just close to the brink of Financial Ruin but so far over the edge we had to bail them out.
At least the Labour Party, left to their own devices, every time they are in power, only approach National Bankruptcy, but in true Labour Style have never actually achieved it (or anything else).
/// We're not all communist ogres about to eat your children and kill all the
rich. ///
'All the rich' are in Scotland, no University tuition fees, no NHS prescription fees, free care for the elderly who own their own houses, paying far less tax per head, and free eye tests.
Ah yes, AOG, I feel like such a pauper when I go back to visit Scotland. All that wealth is so overwhelming. It's a wonder that the Scottish diaspora don't all return to cash in on the riches available.
I've heard that they're starting to give up Buckfast in favour of Bollinger!!
Ratters, I find you posts extremely offensive to all Scots - I personally have never met a person who drinks Buckfast, but I have watched TV programmes about the drunken antics that go on in English cities at the weekend (probably Scottish too).
Please let me know when you plan your going away party, I'd love to wave you off.
