Someone had to stand up and take the blame in the end, he made mistakes and his inexperience in crowd control couldn't have been tested at a worst scene. I don't think he was directly the cause, he was trying to ease the huge crush of fans who were intent on gaining entry into the ground come what may, I think it would have happened somewhere else if he hadn't done that.
scapegoat comes to mind! Didn't Jack Ruby shoot Lee Harvey Oswald and he himself was dead within 12 months, think about it. But why does Liverpool have to go on for so long about Hillsborough, does Celtic/Rangers still go on about the death toll in 1971 or the Bradford Stadium fire were people were running around on the pitch on fire shown live on tv?
