For a country that invented the hideous PC they have got a few Race Laws on their statute books but none seem to address this sort of racism. Seems most of it is addressed to unfair opportunities in the business/property sector!!

They patently did not put your thread 'off track', and if they did, that says more about the weakness of your OP than my fairly soft challenges.

Still, we are communicating again, so it's not been all bad.

To return to the OP - Mamyalynne is quite right - racism continues because it passes down from parents to children.

However, the irreversible tide of tolerance for different views (cough!) continues to grow as society moves on, so we can safely say that this kind of poison is on the retreat, and although it will not be in our lifetime, its eradication is only a matter of time.
