I'm surprised aog hasn't pointed out that it's the Black country... but dearie me, that is pretty machiavellian. From the point of view of the Tories, it's reprehensible that he's making private deals with rival parties, especially while they're busy insisting they won't go into coalitions, and no doubt Labour would respond the same way.

‘Tory skulduggery’ is a rather misleading. The Tories haven’t resorted to skulduggery here – this one man has – and the party has done the right thing in suspending him.
