I can't help but wonder why so many on here treat this case as if it's the first of it's kind in living memory...or even before. Impressionable young people have been going off in search of mis- directed ideals, adventure,a bit of rebellion...for centuries. There is nothing new about it as every generation has its causes...some proven to be worthwhile...many resulting in needless death and destruction.
I also wonder how much blame would be put on the parents if this involved nice middle class children from middle England as opposed to Muslims?
Some teenagers are too easily influenced and led astray, they are often naive in where they put their loyalties. They can also be secretive and incredibly sneaky in their actions and movements. Parents can also be naive, seeing ideal sons and daughters...not realising what direction their kids are going in. Its all very well and good to assume these evil parents must have known...blah,blah,blah. Its never as simple as that. But of course...we'd all be better at the job.
