firstly, there's no such word as artical.
I'll try and make it simple for the hard of thinking. Toynbee claims that areas without plenty of blacks have been bleached. I'm saying that for something to be bleached it would have to be coloured in the first place. Hope that helps.

Well then my original comment stands, she's saying that those used to living in London would think it may have been bleached in IOW, as they don't know any different, because there is nearly 100% white population. It's just a remark.

She must have a damned good memory if being born in 1946 she can remember doll's ration books. Actually most rural environments would appear 'bleached' since immigrants and their recent descendants tend not to live in the country. A Dutchman recently told me that he thought 'midsomer murders' unrealistic as there weren't any 'blacks' in it. He did admit to never having visited the UK let alone it's rural wilderness.

So who cares if the IOW is made up of predominantly white people?

There are no boarder controls to get onto the IOW. You can even sail your boat and harbour wherever there is a mooring. The ferrys don't stop people getting on because of colour.

They don't vet you when you buy a house and the only vetting they do for rentals are the usual ones you would have anywhere.

Unless Svejk want's to 'import' as many people of colour as the island can stand to change the vote from Tory I can't see the point of this thread!!
