Retrocop, //I cannot accept Mr Cameron handing out taxpayer's money to aid foreigners//
//The UK is about to pass legislation committing it to ringfencing 0.7% of gross national income for international development spending…..This makes Britain the first nation in the G7 to honour a commitment agreed by the United Nations as far back as 1970…..The bill has had a rocky ride through both Houses of Parliament..….Proposed as a private member's bill by Liberal Democrat MP and former Scottish Secretary Michael Moore, some backbench Conservative MPs and Lords have been strongly opposed to the legal commitment…..However, their proposed amendments were defeated in votes. //

Perhaps you need to re-think that one.
//Are you saying I can't put a padlock on my garden shed because it stops down and outs sleeping on my property?//
I don’t know if anyone else is saying that, but I’m certainly not. I’d put a padlock on my garden shed too. We do have a problem with homelessness, as does the rest of the western world and beyond, and as Tinkerbell says it is sad, but it isn’t a problem that will be eradicated by a change of government. The thing is, you complain that this government is handing out taxpayer’s money to foreigners, but we’ve always given foreign aid – it’s nothing new – and that won’t change. Any government attempting to remedy homelessness by providing social housing to anyone who needs it, which is presumably the answer, will in effect be handling out taxpayers’ money to a high percentage of foreigners. It’s impossible for any government to provide all the necessities of life – nor should they attempt to. Foreign or native, people have to take responsibility for themselves.
