It seems to me that the more this can of worms is opened the more we suspect that '' The Establishment'' is more Paedophile orientated than anyone ever suspected.
You are quite correct WR ! The whole affair stinks to high heaven.
I wonder about his dementia......he seems to remember he didn't do it!
what they should be saying is that its not in the interests of the CPS, as they dont think they could get a conviction.....

What they should be saying is that it's not in the interests of the CPS, as they don't think there would be enough MPs to rule the country if they pursued it too much.
I will expect an "Ernest Saunders" moment, once it is confirmed that there will be no trial.

Maybe the CPS should try the Guinness cure.
It's worked as a dementia treatment before.
:-)
Do you have to do much to stand trial ? I though one stayed in the dock and it all went on around one. In which case dementia isn't going to be a barrier to achieving that.

But whether it is worth doing in such a case is unlikely. Someone should know they are being punished if found guilty, and why. I'd suspect there are more beneficial things to spend the prosecution's kitty on.
//But whether it is worth doing in such a case is unlikely. Someone should know they are being punished if found guilty// So true - my mother, for example, would have no idea of why she was in the dock or, God forbid, sent down. Jenner is probably not that much different....
If (and that's quite a big IF) he has late stage dementia, then there is no point whatsoever proceding - he won't understand and it would bring the law into disrepute.

It does, though, rather beg the question "Why did they wait long enough for the dementia to reach this point?" ... if indeed it actually has.
He's got away with it.
Assistant Chief Constable Roger Bannister said he believed the decision was "the wrong one" and it would do little to support and encourage victims of sexual abuse to come forward.
BBC News - Lord Janner will not face child sex abuse charges, CPS says http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-32329924
//Lord Janner will not face child sex abuse charges, CPS says //

That is so very wrong. If he's now elderly and sick there should still be a formal investigation.

//Someone should know they are being punished if found guilty//

I disagree. If dementia renders him incapable of standing trial, then punishment is futile - he’s going to learn no lessons from it. Nevertheless, the victims and the public are entitled to know the truth and if he is guilty that should be a matter of record. To commit appalling crimes and escape without a blemish to his name brings shame upon the justice system.

Prosceution and punishment would appear to be pointless - but exposure of his crimes should still be paramount - anything else stinks of a cover-up.

The Establishment seems hell-bent on suppressing any paedo investigations (e.g. the planned public enquiry which has now been postponed twice) which makes one wonder how deep-rooted a high-level paedophile ring really is.

If the Police can spend money on the allegations made after a suspect has died (Saville) and the media et al have pronounced him guilty in absentia then what is the difference in having an enquiry whilst Jenner is still alive.
May be problamatical in cross examination though ?
It is odd that recently it seems that the media believes it is in the public interest to inform of us celebrities, politicians and academics who are losing their faculties through dementia/Alzheimers. We can count our selves to sleep on the numbers. The late Lady Thatcher,Prunella Scales.Authors,Shakesperean actors.etc etc. A current film called Still Alice.
Of course it is right to let people be aware of this illness and for charities to ask for money to combat it.
How is it that only when Janner is invited before the beak we learn he has dementia? Had this condition already been verified I am sure his name would of joined the previous names who the media believe it is in our interest to learn about some time ago!!
It's a pity because I think Lord Janner himself would support his own prosecution.

The CPS have, at least, admitted they were wrong not to prosecute Janner when he was fit and able following investigations in 1991 and 2007.
