Europe And Immigration
For all those who support Europe and the free movement within it's borders.
Those who wish we signed the Schengen Treaty. Read this horror story. This man,and no doubt many like him,was heading for our country.
Perhaps France may now be a little more choosy who they let enter their Southern coastline.Might benefit us as well.
We need these people like a hole in the head.Seems we have enough of our own home grown sexual deviants without this scum joining us.

A tragic story. The man was clearly very dangerous and should have been in prison.
// Huminski, who is single, had been banned from French territory after being convicted twice for acts of 'extreme violence' including attacking a frail pensioner. //
Sounds more like a failure of the French legal system.

just goes to show that the french judiciary is just as toothless as ours, when it comes to attempts to exclude EU nationals.

My point is he should have been in a French prison for 10 years plus for his two violent crimes, and then France and Europe would have been safe. I assume he was instead deported back to Poland from where he had free movement back.
It is not the free movement that was the problem, it is that he should have been locked up and he wasn't.

France and Europe would have been safe??????
Yes but only for 10 years.

Of course it was the 'free movement' that was the problem, unless of course he had been locked up for the rest of his life.

I was just about to respond to this horror story. I'm sure this post will bring out the 'racist' comments about immigration and open borders but I hope this is a catalyst in Europe. The French are already leaning to the right as are many countries in Europe. We have no controls at all. The French have already deported this low life for previous crimes and banned him from France altogether but it means nothing.
I'm not sure that Schengen has anything to do with the boats crossing from Africa. That's a separate issue.
Inevitably open migration means that "bad people" can move around as well as "good people". Since we're not part of Schengen though it's not like ending that will stop "bad people" from moving around where they choose, even if it does make it a bit harder. The problem is that this also discourages the sort of immigration that does provide benefits, which is also the majority of it.

If the Schengen treaty was torn up there would be border controls again throughout Europe. That would help check bad Poles and his like with criminal records to wander through any country of his choice. Europe is an open door and we seem to be the destination of choice. We had good immigrants in the days of border controls where criminal records could be checked and we could actually deport undesirables as well but not now.The EUROPEAN Court of Human Rights put paid to that didn't it ?

AI have absolutely no problem with controlled immigration, in fact I wold go further, I think it is absolutely necessary for the well being and development of a country.
However, uncontrolled immigration is bad for the recipient country as well as being bad for the immigrant. Countries cannot suddenly spring up an infrastructure, hospitals, roads, housing, schools, Police ... the list goes on. Mass uncontrolled immigration also leads to the immigrants congregating in one are and not integrating, this too is not good for anyone long term.
Labours great multicultural experiment showed this.

Surely svejk's BA should also have changed the word "problem" to advantage?
I guess ymb the key disagreement is probably what you mean by "controlled" immigration. I don't agree with an arbitrary cap on numbers but that doesn't mean I'm for uncontrolled either, exactly. We should be able to turn people away but not because we've met a quota.
