Why Is The Election All About How Much Of Our Money They Can Spend?

All the political parties are trying to outdo each other by promising they will spend billions on this, that and the other. I'm sure a lot of people out there don't understand economics and where all this money actually comes from. Has everyone been brainwashed to see that this must only be a good thing? It is our money that has been confiscated and spent as these politicians see fit. If a party came along and send they were going to slash spending and taxes so we could keep lots more of our own money then that would be deemed as bad and wicked. Perhaps there are too many people who don't contribute and just take.

It costs a lot of money to run a country

There is a party which says it is going to slash spending AND taxes and it is called the Conservative party
Trouble is it is allegedly doing the first thing to pay off the deficit from borrowing. And as was graphically demonstrated by the first two years of the coalition that approach leads to stagnation and possible recession. So they had to change tack. Now mr Osborne tells us he is going to try the same trick again.

Then there is UKIP of course which blithely promises billions it can't deliver in non payment of EU membership fees.

There certainly are people who take more than they contribute but even Mr Osborne sees the iniquity of that to an extent which is why he's clamped down to a small degree on Mr Blair's banking friends :-)
