It would be interesting to know how many people vote by post - if it's possible to find out. My postal vote papers arrived several days ago and I have cast my vote and posted it. What a relief!

Sent mine off last week.
That's great news.
I hope the wife has remembered to post my vote.
I'm waiting to send mine off; haven't made up my mind yet. I want to give the parties the maximum possible time to bribe me.
Never needed one. I always seem to be around at the time.
If she has sent it off...I wonder who I voted for?
^^^^^
:-)
It should be banned except for medical reasons.
So you shouldn't get a vote if you are working away from home the, svejk?
I'm sure people managed before postal voting was opened up to all. (quite recently)
Talbot, I remember back in the day two members of, I think, the Surrey cricket team were playing in the Midlands somewhere and drove down to London together after stumps to cast their votes. Discussing the matter while halfway there, they realised that one was going to vote Labour and the other one Tory.

So they turned round and went back.

i'm smiling a lot this morning - i'll have to put a stop to that
"It should be banned except for medical reasons" That would be my vote lost then (and those of about 17,000 of my colleagues)
^ Why?
Because people work abroad some of the time svejk. It's not very democratic if voting ability relied on whoever puts shift plans together
10% of the entire electorate have already done so.
There were always contingencies for people working away, armed forces, etc. Since Blair introduced postal voting for all there has been a conveyer belt of PV fraud.
For the sake of our pedants i'll rephrase what I said, 'Postal voting should be banned except for medical reasons & all the contingencies that were previously in place for people who can't get to the polling station for whatever reason(phew)
It is possible to find out, Ruth Davidson managed during the Indy ref

Well there used to be a saying (in NI I believe but probably elsewhere as well) 'vote early vote often'.

.. all the contingencies that were previously in place for people who can't get to the polling station for whatever reason(phew) ..

which effectively meant anyone who cared enough to ask for one
Tony Bliar widened it to anyone who could be 'bothered' to ask. Previously you were supposed to have a good reason.
Voted a week ago, and despite what I have seen and read since I would not have changed my mind.
