Am I the only that has been disappointed by some of the anti Scottish feelings that I have read on here? Not the anti SNP as I was against independence but some of the anti Scottish sentiment and stereotyping that I have read.
I think many anti-Scottish sentiments you may have read on here have been generated by the anti-English sentiments that have been expressed. Before the Scottish referendum on independence I said that I would like the union to survive.... but subsequent conversations changed that.
well I would agree gav. I wonder where the misconception comes from that scots hate/dislike English people. although I do blame the media to a degree , since the independence vote Scotland appears to have found ' their voice', please be aware snp is not the only minority party in parliament.
Yes I was one of those idiots that was brought up to be anti English. But since moving to England I have become British not Scottish. I am proud to come from Scotland but I am definitely British.
I was in an Edinburgh pub when England were playing in the World Cup. I supported England but was met with some very aggressive Scots who informed me "we never support the English!".
I was enthusiastically 'pro union' through the referendum campaign - but now (if they really are going to fall in line like sheep behind the SNP) I just want rid of them - but on our terms, not theirs.
I do like the Scots, I just hope they are conning the pollsters and will regain some sense in the privacy of the polling booth.
SirOracle,
Mostly from my ignorant school chums that had not really studied our history.
I am not a SNP supporter but in their defence at least they engaged the voting public.
I love Scotland and its countrymen and women. It's one of nicest places in the UK. Sorry that was a little bit irrelevant however I felt like saying it.
