The actual carrying out of the death sentence isn't the real punishment, that is a matter of simply bang you're dead, end of! The real punishment is the time spent waiting for it to happen, the longer this is, the worse the suffering.
The crime was of such magnitude that he should stay alive and wait in uncertainty.

What has happened in this day and age is terrible. Death should not be a punishment. What happened that day should never have happened. However it's staring us all in the face that we are all from the same concious singularity and we will all end up back together.
