A majority win for the Tories is not the only good thing that has come from the election, but also it has shown us the true face of the Left-Wing.

Would the Tories have taken to the streets in such a way had they lost?

/// Among the bohemian Left, with their state-funded salaries and public-sector pensions, the idea that any sane person might vote Conservative, or even hold conservative opinions, is almost unthinkable. ///

/// And while you will rarely hear people saying they ‘hate’ the Labour Party, you certainly hear it about the Conservatives — or, as Left-wing activists like to call them, ‘Tory scum’. ///

/// Its precepts are simple and unchanging. Patriotism is evil. Austerity is wicked. To question mass immigration, to praise the British Empire, even to fly the national flag, is tantamount to racism. ///

/// The state is always benign; private interests are always suspect; individual aspiration is mere selfishness; profit is a dirty word; and there is, of course, no such thing as being too Left-wing. ///

AOG - //If they had been the Far-Right and the word 'Tory' had been replaced by the word 'Muslim', it would have been a complete different kettle of fish then, wouldn't it? //

It's not easy to bring race and religion into a discussion about politics, but you have managed it again - effortlessly.
//They [the Scots] don't want to be part of the UK.//

Yes they do. They've just had a referendum. The majority said 'no' to independence.
andy-hughes, he's right though.

As he was on about Cameron and sturgeon I was thinking he was meaning scots as in SNP

He was on about the SNP well that's what I was thinking
Lol sorry about last sentence thought it was deleted
I have always thought that when people use words such as scum, or shout or become verbally or physically aggressive they have rather lost the arguement.
Steg, ah, right.
"England? lol... The rest of the UK you mean surely?
And It's "pear-shaped already" "

No, I mean England, steg. Northern Ireland and Wales do not contribute too much to the UK's pot and will not have any cash left over when Scotland is bankrupt.

Whatever the SNP may feel, the Scots were asked a just few months ago whether they wanted independence and they voted "No" by quite a margin on a high turnout. That said, there is no reason for any part of the UK to be treated substantially differently to any other. The fact that Scottish voters have now elected (to the UK Parliament) almost all of their MPs from a single-issue party (the issue on which they have recently made their decision made their decision contrarily to that party's stance) hardly justifies even more special treatment.

Scotland’s finances are not currently pear shaped. Whatever they currently do with the cash they have control over is of no consequence. There is always the UK’s coffers on which to draw after all the money has been spent. That is why I support independence for Scotland and absolutely detest the current “cake and eat it” arrangements that will only get worse. I cannot for the life of me see why the UK government feels the need to keep the Union intact if there is a substantial lobby for Scottish independence. There is absolutely nothing in it for the rest of the UK (and by that I’m thinking particularly of England). Like the EU, it seems political vanity is swaying against common sense (“will I be the Prime Minister who presided over the break up of the UK” and all that rubbish).
When Scotland is bankrupt lol
The UK is just about bankrupt £1.5trillion in debt, double what it was 5years ago and believe it or not it's not Scotland's fault.

//The UK is just about bankrupt £1.5trillion in debt//

nah, that's just "in debt", 42% of GDP.

Greece - debt of 180% of GDP - now THAT's bankrupt.
And, by the way, Germany's debt to GDP is a smidgen over 74%.
However figures are jiggled about, twisted, turned, lies, half truths whatever, its not better up here than it is down south
By jiggled about do you mean presented clearly?
AOG

Oh I most certainly do have a response to your kettle of fish comment, but let's be honest - you know what I would say, and I know what you would say in response, and you know what I would say in response to you - and eventually it would go all 'Groundhog Day'.

Sorry if I sound irritable, but I'm going out to dinner tonight and am deliberately starving myself so I can enjoy three courses.
Shame on you SP, you should be giving your money to the poor instead of going out for lavish slap up feasts.
What is it with SNP leaders with surnames that are either the name of seafood, or almost the name of seafood (Sturgeon, Salmond).

It's very fishy.

(Did you see what I did there?)
"By jiggled about do you mean presented clearly?"
No
Zac-Master

Ha!

Well that's where you're wrong.

It's a curry house with a BYOB policy. I won't be spending any more than £20.00 tonight.

You see...we Islington chatteratti occasionally like to 'slum it'.
Sp it's because we are cods chosen people
Thought as much. Much better to bandy about unrelated unsubstantiated figures. BTW, I think it's nearer £1.36b.
