Why would taxes be due on a fixed asset like an item of jewellery, jno?

There were comments made on the news about some depositors being cagey about what they have stashed away but no depth, such as reasons why they would behave that way.

I should add my naïvety is not an affectation, this time, I am genuinely ignorant (and under-read).

The most likely outcome if the cops had responded to the alarm would have been a cursory glance at the street door a decision that all was well - they came in through the roof - and back to the station for a cuppa. Your Abbot and Costello would have been perhaps better.

Eight men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court over the Hatton Garden jewellery raid.

In total 10 men have been arrested over the raid, including a 42-year-old man arrested at an address in Essex on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle on Thursday.
Another man, who was arrested on Tuesday, has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

someone I work with said what if it was all a conspiracy and one of the boxes actually contained incriminating documentation or videos that could affect some very important and influential people and that is why the police didn't respond. All the other items that were taken were a smoke screen!!!
