“In the run up to announcing a legislative programme entirely composed of the sort of things the Sheriff of Nottingham would yell at villagers as threats,…”
An example or two, please, before my sides split open completely.
“British people think the European court of human rights is all about making sure that Ian Brady can get Netflix or marmalade or something…”
What else does it do, then (for British people that obey the law, that is)?
“He has a detailed idea of what life will be like 10 years down the line, when sovereignty is subordinated to corporate courts.”
Some mistake, surely. Should that not read “When sovereignty is subordinated to unelected foreign officials”?
“The prime minister has successfully pursued an agenda more radical than Thatcher’s”
I don’t think so, somehow. It is not worthy to mention the two in the same breath.
Just who is this clown “Frankie Boyle”? Looking him up (I assume it’s a him) I see that he’s allegedly a comedian (at least that's the only Frankie Boyle I can find). I understand that “Britain’s Got Talent” was recently won by a performing dog. I’m not surprised if Mr Boyle’s talents are only sufficient to lead him to produce this bilge. I don't think he'd make it past the qualifying rounds. No wonder I (among many others) don’t read the Grauniad!

There's a wonderful piece by Simon Jenkins in the Guardian from a few days ago in which he compares a lot of Cameron's Queen's speech thus:
"It read like the ramblings of a man the morning after a dreadful one-night stand with the electorate, wondering what on earth he promised during the passion."
I suspect (or at least I hope) that the Human rights stuff for starters is fairly near the top of that list. So Frankie Boyle may not need to get himself so worked up perhaps. Cameron is no Moriarty. He's just been a very naughty boy :-)
